As a couple, we were looking forward to our first trip to Rome. The city was of course breathtaking but the hotel was a real letdown.
The location isn’t near to anything (don’t be fooled by the picture of St. Peter’s!!), and costs €50 euros each way from the airport.
The room was mediocre at best, with a bath plug that you had to dig out with a screwdriver and a bathroom light and air conditioning that wouldn’t turn off. We were right underneath the rooftop bar, so we’re constantly woken up by chairs being scraped and footsteps above us. We asked for a different room but the staff were unaccommodating and even unfriendly at times. Both the pool and jacuzzi were FREEZING (we travelled end of June).
The hotel restaurant had a limited menu for lunches and dinners and was extremely pricey for the poor food, drinks were also expensive with limited choice.
Overall a negative review for a negative experience, United I can get MUCH better value for money closer to the city.
The location, cleanliness, room size is good.
But the staff less responsive related to their facilities.
We stayed for two days in the summertime. The Air Conditioner in my room did not work since the first we enter the room 114. I asked the staff twice, but the answered only, "if it did not work it means it can not work." They did not try to fix it in the next day when we were out or move us to another room. I cannot imagine if it happened in the winter and the heather did not work.
Couldn't fault staff at all”
I can only think of one negative for this hotel - it's proximity to a metro station. It does, however, have a shuttle bus service to a station. We found it very difficult walking to the hotel from the Metro with our luggage and small child.
Putting that aside, the hotel itself was wonderful. Warm, attentive and friendly staff who seemed to go the extra mile, especially for our 18 month old son. The room was spotlessly clean. We weren't the tidiest of guests due to our toddler but the cleaners made our room lovely again every day - thank you so very much.
We only ate breakfast at the hotel but found the food tasty and plentiful.
In short, we had a fabulous trip to Rome and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and would most definitely consider staying here again.
Would not recommend ”
Located quite a ways from points of interest. We were asked to pay an unexpected city tax at check out. One middle age gentleman at front desk was not friendly. Air conditioner controlled from front desk. Room is either too cold or too hot. Thermostat in room does not control AC. Not convenient transportation to Airport. Requires two buses and one train to the Airport. Taxi and Uber charge hefty fee to airport from hotel. Would not recommend.
Location and pools”
Good clean rooms friendly and knowledgeable staff, but it's a bit outside of Romes main attractions and it takes a while to get downtown. The main attraction for us was the pool and Jacuzzis unfortunately they were not heated, this meant that they were ice cold and non enjoyable. But overall a good hotel
Not a 4-star hotel, bad breakfast, no clean pool”
Good family room, roof terrace and close to shops and restaurants
Ok, but it does not live up to our expectations. The family room was good and nice bathroom. Breakfast was not very good, the bread was hard and not fresh
Certainly not a 4star”
I really can't think of three!
This hotel was really understaffed, had to go to reception to find pool bar staff. The pool was freezing and needed a good clean. Towels in the room were threadbare. Many of the staff had only a small amount of English so was difficult to communicate. This could be a really good hotel if it was brought up to a proper 4star standard, needs money pumped into it and proper staff training as it is in a nice quiet location.
Great hotel and amazing view”
The view was amazing. breakfast was great and good staff.
The hotel was fantastic. Lovely warm comfortable room with a great view of the Basilica. Only downside was the distance from anything. Unsure of transport links so we walked everywhere which was ok but made for a long day. I would recommend this hotel though.
Rispect Quite f funny
Nice place for a break”
comfortable room, nice staff and clean
good compromise between price and comfort, a bit out of the city, but quiet area.
The breakfast is not bad and the staff professional
Good hotel although not great”
good location, good rooms, good facilities
The stay was not bad except the airco stopped working on the 3rd night, But the staff understood the situation and switched us rooms. the location is pretty good and the surroundings are surprisingly quiet. The only point needing improvement is the free wifi that is available at the reception but not in most rooms and the breakfast which is a downside.
Convenient and confortable hotel”
Convenient, comofrtable, affordable
Nice stay in Rome. Comfortable hotel. Although it is not close to teh city center, it has convenient connections.
This was a TOTAL disappointment. Our room was NOT the same as the one pictured on our reservation and the staff FAILED to provide the accommodations which they said they would. The staff attempts to give the appearance of being polite and courteous but they actually DELIBERATELY ignored our requests for the proper room and furnishings for which we paid. The Cardinal St Peter Hotel is a DISHONEST hotel and an insult to the service industry.
NICE, QUIET, RELAXING AFTER HARD DAYS WALKING”
Quiet, balcony, pool
Okay it's about a 20minute walk to St Peters, however after a day walking in the crowds and busy city this hotel is a joy to come home to. Buses run continually as well as the metro. you can travel all day for one euro 50 cents, on the buses and metro.
The staff cater to ever need, there is a fridge in the room as well as tea and coffee facilities. The hotel is clean and tidy.
The pool is calming as well as the roof jacuzzi's and seats.
Staff Performance is too slow”
Cleaning; Centrally located; Close to Sightseeing.
Comfortabe and luxury hotel”
style, comfort, staff
Friendly and very helpful staff, stylish, luxury hotel with comfy room and internet.Room service great and great food!!
Went to this hotel and liked the location and room however, the room no hot water!!! unfortunatley the expeirience was very disappointing.
Lovley hotel, rooms modern and clean”
Swimming pool and roof terrace Jacuzzi very nice, never crowded
A bit out of the city, however it was worth it for the seclusion and outdoor pool and rooftop jacuzzi which I did not see in any the city hotels. If you have upgraded your room make sure that you are allocated an upgraded room on arrival.
