The hotel is the old Hilton and although being refurbished these rooms are an extra £20 pn. We went for an unfurnished which was tired and very basic. We eat at the hotel and found the food good, but expensive. A pint of Coke was £4.60 for example. Parking is another £5 pn which is petty and should be included in the overnight rate.
The link to the Celtic manor is good, but all facilities cost extra.
Very clean. Well cared for. Excellent staff”
Very professional. Had an upgraded room given free of charge due to no duvet in the first room (this was not needed as we only wanted a duvet delivered to the room)
After receiving an email offering dinner, bed and breakfast for £99 with a voucher code (first year anniversary) for online booking was disappointed to arrive and find that the booking had gone through as bed and breakfast only.
Making do with the situation ”
Our first room was a big disappointment , the second was not much better. I really expected a better quality from the Hilton.
The decora of the interior with the exception of the reception area was about 2 out of 10.
Excellent value for money,”
Quality and size of room, beds & bedding really high standard so comfortable, quiet hotel no noise, breakfasts were excellent
Really enjoyable stay, accommodated age range from 67 to a 9 yr old very satisfactorily.
Lovely friendly professional staff, throughout the hotel
The facilities in the rooms were of a high standard the rooms are very large and spacious, good storage facilities, when I stay anywhere I like things put away out of sight I can't stand clutter,I like to relax
The leisure facilities are a nice addition,
Breakfast dining times are really flexible allowing for a swim beforehand, foyer and seating area attractive to sit and relax.
the fish pond- very relaxing to watch, good quality wine.
As a one night stay it was fine- it wasn't bad but it wasn't outstanding. Bar staff very pleasant but not many of them. Reception staff very helpful. View from our room of a flat roof covered in weeds not inspiring! All in all no major complaints but I think it is a little tired for a four star hotel.
My repeat trip to this hotel leaves me feeling that if I need to stay in this area again, I will chose this hotel for the third time.
would use hilton magor next time”
bed/ room size
bar and food prices london prices room door doesnt keep the noise out from the hall way so people running up and down the hall goes through your room which is unhelpful if you are working and go to sleep early plus the noise from people talking outside goes through your room also shower was poor and very cramped would recommend the hilton at magor services for business people rooms much better dont have to drag your bags up stairs pay for the car park and do not get the noise from the hall ways
Hilton Newport Hotel
I was not happy at all we booked 2 rooms but we are disappointed is not at all at the standard of Hilton or not even a B&B. It was not clean and towels were not checked as there lipstick mark on them. Lots of dust on the carpet and poor decor.
acess to cardif for shopping and nightlife.
Relaxing, friendly hotel and cheaper than staying in cardiff.
visiting family and friends”
good food comfortable rooms
good hotel good food let down by poor tv facilities unable to even get BBC 24 news on freeview also no free wifi (I always use my own mobile broad band but with no free wifi could prove expensive for families with children)
Location, Restuarant, Bed comfort
Excellent. My stay was to visit with family and friends,(some I had not seen for over 50 years) and this hotel made the greatest base. The restaurant was our place of choice to eat every evening meal. The staff were making sure that our stay was perfect.
good stay, comfortable hotel and great location”
gym is good and rooms are very big
2 night stay on business, very comfortable, ate one night at hotel and the food was good, used the gym every day and it is very good for a hotel gym
good comfortable hotel”
stayed one night due to business, rooms are large and comfortable, gym is good and food was decent.
Great location and reasonable price”
Staffs are very kind and it was great location to cardiff.
Bar on the ground floor is welcoming all.
Price is also reasonable.
Hilton Hotel.Newport,South Wales”
Triple glazed windows to motorway side of hotel, new carpets to stairs (stuck together with duck tape)Cheaper breakfasts (It is not a five star hotel nor close to 3 star in my eyes)
The hotel rooms had a smell of damp and the tiles in the bathroom where not so clean with mould in the silicone and to the grout. It was very hard to get to sleep with being close to the motorway.I kept on getting woke up by the passing traffic and would recommend the hotel to get a decent company to supply & fit some quality triple glazed windows so customers to that side of the hotel can at least get some sleep. The carpets to the stairs leading up to the rooms where stuck together with duck tape as they had split.I was quiet shocked with the overall appearance considering that the Hilton brand is meant to be up with the best.I would rather stay in a travel lodge, maybe basic though but alot cleaner and with adfecent nights sleep!
