Hotel is very dated. Having said that the bed was comfortable and in-room was ok. Overall a bit expensive for the condition and location of the hotel. There is a very modern Starbucks on ground floor which is a huge contrast.
OK stay, but a bit overpriced”
I stayed here for 2 weeks. Location wise - it is great. Less than 200 meters from the nearest train station; screen golf/baseball right next door; various restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Catholic church 400 meters away. Good neighborhood to jog around. Another plus - visiting baseball teams playing against the Daegu team stayed at the hotel while I was there (mid-late August). Gym is sufficient unless you're trying to get huge while you are staying at the hotel. There is a small indoor golf driving range at the back of the gym. My only complaints are that my room did not have a bidet, the safe was broken for the first couple of days, and that it is relatively overpriced. Daegu isn't known for its luxurious hotels, but for $150 a night over there, I expect more. It could at least include breakfast.
the hotel has a great location in access and clean and quiet but hotel needs more facility. sauna/gym is expensive and food at the restaurant is also expensive and it needs more variety of restaurants.
Nice rooms but not-so-great location”
I enjoyed my stay. the hotel was clean, but in the rooms and also in the lobbys and hallways. If you get a room with view, you can look out of your hotel room windows all day and all night without hearing noises. The windows are sound proof. There is nothing to do in the areas around this hotel at night. Very few restaurants, some coffee shops, and lots of office buildings. It is great if you seek peace and quiet or you are a business traveler. If you are looking for night life, do not stay at this hotel. Otherwise you will need to take taxis or buses or subway trains(directly underneath the hotel) to the bars and restaurants...in the shopping and entertainment district of Daegu.
Good location ”
Location is good but no coffee and no tea in the room which is kind of odd for this price of hotel. The room is clean and the hotel is in a distnace area where you can walk to find some place for dinner. THe staff are fine.
I stayed 2 days with my wife and room was quiet and clean. Easy access to transport such as nearby subway station. Internet was available by a cable from wall and also wifi. I was able to use VoIP at all times with good voice quality. In general I was satisified.
I needed a place to stay before a meeting the next morning. Just flew into Seoul and took the train down from Daegu. Very nice hotel with friendly staff. Which I could have seen more of the hotel, but I just slept.
This was a nice hotel for a short business trip to Daegu. The free high speed internet connection in the room was top-notch. The only negative feature in the room was that the thermostat in the room had no control over room temperature, it was very cool (verged on cold) at night.
Location great, room was a bit small, bathroom clean but in general the infrastructure was old. But for the price we paid, it was ok.
Hotel was nice. Good location. Clean. And kind staffs. But many visitor for wedding on weekend. Too many people at hotel lobby.
Bad facilities with bad faculties ”
It was in good location but the room was cold with poor wifi. Breakfast was terrible as well. They didnt even provide coffee. I complained about the temperature and wifi but the answer from them was there is nothing we could do. The only thing good was their fitness center.
The room was ok, but definitely dated. The carpet wasn't particularly clean, but the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was passable, but pretty limited. The staff at breakfast were among the most miserable looking staff I've ever seen anywhere. I'm not much of a morning person, but I'm not being paid to be there. Reception staff were also pretty cold on check in and check out. Not really welcoming at all. Charging W50,000 to use the sauna is a joke. Again, this information was delivered in a pretty unfriendly way by the employee at the desk of the gym/sauna. Basically, I didn't encounter a single welcoming member of staff. The gym itself was fine. But, like I said, 50,000 to use the sauna as a paying hotel guest is ridiculous. Overall, the hotel is fine if you're there for a short time. I had one night there and it was fine for my purposes. The location near the metro is very handy. I wouldn't like to stay longer though. It's certainly not good value for money when you consider the poor staff, the average breakfast and the ridiculous extra charge to use the sauna.
Staying 1 night after a visit to Gayasan Haeinsa”
Hotel with free parking located fairly close to city center. The rooms are fairly spacious and clean and free wifi is provided. The hotel is somewhat dated and could use an update. Overall, it is comfortable for a 1 night stay
clean comfortable room but staff needs training. ”
Nice hotel. Understand helpful and unfriendly staff, especially at the registration counter. Decent food at the breakfast buffet but waitresses were slow and dining room was cold, weak wifi at dining room. Big lobby needs something to cheered up. Just know that nice smile goes long way for the ttraveles
I asked for a non-smoking room and received a smoking room, which was really smelly. The chair for the desk had stains on it which was disgusting. The staff was really nice and parking was free. I am not sure if I were to go back if I would stay there again. If I had to go back I would make sure I stayed in a non-smoking room.
Below the expectation”
It is hard to find excellent service spirit towards customer oriented unfortunately. The room's window switch was out of order and the hotel couldn't make it right but just cut off the electric line. The employee in the breakfast lounge wasn't prepared correctly how to greet the customer and his expectation at all. I can feel the atmosphere that the staff doesn't want to be bothered by customer but let me alone style. The reception desk and lobby staff also not so eager to listen and/or support customers needs. Frankly speaking, comparing with the price, I don't want to revisit the hotel in the future.
Clean and convenient”
The Grand is a nice hotel, convenient to the downtown area, about a 5 minute taxi ride to the shopping/restaurant district. Its health club and sauna are modern and clean although at an additional cost to the room charge. There are numerous local and international eateries within easy walking distance from the hotel. The only downside is the access to the parking garage. Very tight.
nice hotel but maybe to pricey.”
It was a good hotel and the staff was decently friendly. The only thing that bothered me was the mold and water stain on the bathroom cabinet in the room they put me in. Was a little pricey for a room that had such obvious wear and tear.
Not recommend for foreigners”
coudln't see any smiling staffs during out 3 days' staying. around 14usd are charged for the gym even for the hotel guests. smoking inside the lobby lounge was accepted so that my 2 years son couldn't stay at the lobby while waiting for the taxi. a lot dust in the room - especially at window and bed frame corner you hardly can find out the english speaking staffs. do not try this one unless you speak good korean
