The hotel is located not far from Bologna centrale, only 5-6 minutes walk. The outside of the hotel is beautiful and colourful. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. The hotel decoration is lovely and room is comfortable. It is very peaceful at night and relaxation.
Good choice for the station”
The hotel does look much when seen from the street but do not let this but you off as there is a pleasant courtyard behind. My room was compact, with only a metal rack for clothes, but the bathroom was large in comparison and well-equipped. It was on the third floor and all the rooms on this floor appeared to have their own outdoor terrace, although I did not use mine as it was raining. I would imagine, though, that they would make this hotel an attractive choice in warmer weather. Quantity and choice for breakfast was fine, but there was no restaurant for other meals. The hotel is very convenient for the main station and, although it is some distance, I did manage to walk to the historic centre.
Good value,well run hotel.”
Nice friendly hotel with reasonably sized rooms and good facilities for price charged. Breakfasts good with fresh food, both cooked and continental. Unusually, tea and coffee making in room although coffee quality not great. Bathrooms adequate and whilst shower won't knock you off your feet, it was adequate. Location excellent for rail station and a good 30 minute walk to centre. Public transport available though. Overall, no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
Overall good hotel ”
Clean hotel with good location and friendly staff.
One night was very noisy.
Asked staff about help but they didn't want to help me.
location, common areas decor, breakfast
We stayed at the flower suite , nice three bedroom apartment for 6.
Though the rest of the hotel looked updated, our suite was decorated with bizarre non matching flower patterns on the wall paper, showing less than accurate unions. But the most frightening of all, there was a gas water heater in the bathroom, which was supplying hot water for several rooms around. The gas smell in the room was strong and unpleasant, and it arose serious concerns about safety of the place. Not sure about European regulations, but as far as I know, it's forbidden to install these heaters in bathrooms because of the danger of the carbon monoxide poisoning. Very big issue, to my understanding.
Also, the shower doors would open in such a way that a person over 140 l.can't fit in.
Right next to the suite there seems to be a big diner or something, and we could hear clearly the noise of some 40-50 people having big party right next to our bed .
I would advise travelers with children to book somewhere else.
everything was great;healthy breakfast,kind stuff,quiet hotel,great location
Good value well run hotel ”
Hotel is clean, located near station and good value
Hotel Il Guercino is nicely kept and great value. The minor downside was some problems with the WiFI extender in my room. Recommended.
The Staff, The Shower, The Awesome Breakfast Buffet
I highly recommend that anyone who is looking to stay in Bologna, then come & stay in this hotel.
The staff are so professional & lovely that you feel like your at home with people pampering you.
The shower in our room was like an upright spa, with jets of water massaging your body!
The outstanding quality of this hotel is by far the Breakfast Buffet. It is totally a mind blowing experience & I recommend that you make sure that you book the breakfast package cause you won't be disappointed.
very good hotel”
nice service / location / breakfast
Only hotel close to station with vacancy, good coffee at breakfast, friendly staff.
The public areas of this hotel are of a high standard and the reception staff excellent, however we found the rooms below par especially for their tariff level. Although we booked six months in advance and out of peak season, finding a available hotel close to the station proved difficult. We booked a superior room as there were no standard doubles left. If this is their superior level I have sympathy for guests in standard rooms. Some things which let the room down.
* Our room was two floors up but there is no lift in this wing which is a tough climb with luggage for a month tour in Italy from Australia for retirees.
* The room was far too cramped for two guests for the size of bed. For one person to move about the room the other had to move as well. Difficult to find space for two suitcases and the table is so close to the end of the bed that it is impossible to sit at the desk.
* This is a non smoking room but had clearly previously had been a smoking room, with the furnishings impregnated with the smell of smoke. The necessary laundering and steam cleaning of furnishings to convert to non-smoking had not been done. Since it would probably cost about one nights tariff that is a miserably approach.
* There was a pungent very unpleasant drain smell in the bathroom where their remedy was to place a ineffective air freshener unit in the bathroom as a substitute to fixing the problem.
* Number of power points below expectations in this era of mobile phones, lap tops etc. You had to unplug the fridge to plug in the supplied kettle.
When we asked for house keeping to leave both the bathroom door and window open to dissipate the odors they offered to exchange rooms but as we were only in Bologna for one and a half days and we found more things we wanted to see than expected we did not have the time or energy for the inconvenience.
Fairly Good Choice”
Location, breakfast, staff
Our stay was mixed in results. The location was very good if you were arriving by train, a short flat walk to the hotel. Most of the staff was excellent, but a desk clerk was very unpleasant about trying to get the Internet to work in our room. The next morning another staff member fixed the problem in minutes. The breakfast was very good with a great selection of items, some of which had been missing in every other hotel we had stayed in in Italy. The room was nicely sized but we had "twin" beds that would have been comfortable only for a young child. I fell out of the bed one night, something that hasn't happened anywhere else in forty years of travel- don't get the "twin beds". The Internet worked after the router in the room was reset several times but it was extremely slow. The hotel is close to the center of Bologna. A special note about the pizza restaurant across from the hotel. It has good pizza and they also serve vegetarian and vegan Italian food. Overall a good choice with a few items of note to be considered.
Close to train station”
Close to Central train station, they have spa in the hotel,Good to stay just one or two days.
Cute hotel, fun decor, great breakfast!”
Breakfast (delicious), close to town, cool design
We had a lovely stay. A short walk from the train station and into the centre of town. Helpful staff, delicious breakfast. Only complaint is that Wifi reception was quite limited at times, needed to go downstairs to get better reception as not available for i-pad inside the room.
Very good and cost effective hotel. ”
location close to public transport, courteous staff and very nice rooms
it was a great experience and i have no complaints. if i visit bologna will surely book this hotel again as it served our purpose totally. the station was very close to what it appears on the map and its easily accesible
Really nice hotel, big room, good location”
