We were a family of eight, parents and grown up children celebrating my birthday. The hotel is in a very convenient place for exploring the City and theatre, staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms size is generous and extremely clean. Will definitely stay here again.

The facilities are recently renovated and in excellent condition, and everything was very comfortable. We were traveling with a <1year old and the hotel staff went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating in all things. The location is convenient to the British Museum and Library, and less than a block from the Tube. I can think of almost nothing that could have made our stay better
Hotel cannot find my booking and then agoda cancelled it directly without any notification. As a business traveler booked 4 rooms, we have been awaiting for over 40 minutes at the lobby for hotel to double check booking conditions with agoda, even worse, hotel double charged me and I cannot contact agoda customer services because it was a canceled booking.

This is a luxury hotel ideally located in a quiet corner of London close to the Russel Square tube and various bus stations. Front of house staff were excellent, polite, and helpful. Housekeeping left something to be desired. When cleaning the room, they took a number of items I had used and did not replace them - like soap and wash clothes. I had to make multiple requests to have them replaced - a minor annoyance. The beds and linens are divine. I was in single room which was perfect for a well organized solo traveler. I would not recommend trying to squeeze 2 people into this room - or even 1 person who packs like they are 2 people. The in house dining options are overpriced and a bit pretentious. The pizza place around the corner, Franco Mancos, was fantastic. There are a few dining options in close walking distance offering a diverse selection in different price points. The Burr Coffee Co. was great for a good cup of coffee. I would stay again but eat elsewhere.

I was charged in advance which was not stated and then charged again and they only realised this when checking out by luck! Food was terrible at the restaurant at night but the breakfast was lovely and so were the staff. The room given was very small and almost a minute walk from the lift o. The other aide of the building. The bathroom was bigger than the bedroom but was all furnish beautifully. Asked for a changed too which they said they would do and to go and eat and my belongings would be put in the new room but after I arrived back, nothing had been done and they changed nothing. Also ordered a massage which never happened either. The place looks nice but sadly it was not a nice experience for the price and a IHG hotel. You would expect better service.

Our stay at the principal was 10/10. The staff went out of their way to make our experience more enjoyable and accomodate a late check out. We would definitely stay again.
Excellent hotel with great service, beautiful, newly renovated rooms and a well equipped gym. Only minus point: bar closes at 12:30am.

I was staying in another hotel during my first 5 days in London, then was off to York for 2N before returning to London for my last 3N, where I was booked at the Principal. I was unsure where best to store a big luggage bag prior to my travel to York as the other hotel's policy did not allow overnight storage . I called up the Principal to get their suggestion and an extremely helpful representative called Hamza offered me to store my luggage there instead, even though I had not checked in. What a big relief that was to me, the various external paid options all came with logistical challenges. When i arrived at the hotel, everyone at the Principal from the doorman to concierge was so professional and helpful that I felt very assured that the luggage would be safe. I enjoyed my stay at the Principal very much. The hotel was magnificent and grand, the room with the vintage decor was superb. There was even a tuck box filled with snacks for the guest! Will def return for a longer stay!

The room is spacious for London. It's recently refurbished, so everything is really nice and new. The staff is super friendly. (Too friendly for a person who doesn't like small talk like me ... but hey! it's not their fault.)
