Hot springs, scenic location and friendly staff member
We spent one night at the Meilonshan Hotspring Resort in December 2014. It is located in a very quiet and scenic area, around mountains, rivers, and beautiful views. We had to check Google maps a few times on the trip from Tainan city to ensure we were on track, but was easy to find. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful staff member who spoke English. He made sure we had everything we needed. The rooms were clean but a bit dated. The walls are thin and there was noise from the tv and room next door. The hotspring was great, offering several pools (hot, cold and warm)with various water falls, water jets and water massages, foot bath, relaxation area, sauna, steam room and showers and change room. We went across the road to the restaurant for dinner. A Chinese menu and local dishes, didn't give us too many options but with the help from our friend who helped check us in, I was able to find a well priced vegetarian soup and rice dish. A buffet breakfast was included in our room rate which was a bit exotic to my western taste buds, but I did find a few dishes and toast to fill up on. The resort offered free bicycles which we used to explore the surrounding area after we checked out on Sunday morning. This was very enjoyable and highly recommended, with great views and some tough hills. We visited a large Buddha statue nearby.
A good value for money stay with helpful friendly staff.
Escape in Hotsprings Valley”
Hotsprings ; Tranquillity ; Authenticity
Perfect choice for an authentic countryside escape with wood bungalows ; bathrooms ; hotsprings baths & walks in the relaxing valley of centre-south Taiwan.
The staff was really attentive despite us not speaking Mandarin and even arranged bathing time and dinner time to accomodate us beyond the regular timing.
For people not driving their own car, remember to call them in advance to arrange pick-up at Liouguei Bus Station (bus from Kaohsiung Main Station) as the resort is in a remote area (count 2~2h30 bus ride from Kaohsiung).
