Got a great offer so got value for money and had a great stay.
There was just one thing, I tried to get a taxi via the Hotel and they wanted more than the double than the normal rate! Thats NOT okay, don't try to cheat your customers, thats very bad business after my opinion!
Best regards Lars
Great place to relax and enjoy the beach. ”
Great staff. Good food and great location.
Amazing stay at this beautiful hotel”
Ndame Lodge is a perfect place to relax and get away from everything. Paje Beach is beautiful and Ndame is rustic to fit with the island feel yet it has all the modern comforts to Ensure you have a perfect stay. Great staff, good food and very well run. Highly recommend.
A trip to paradise”
First time to Zanzibar - but it sounded exotic.
Found it to be fairly basic but the beaches to die for.
Much of the food was uninteresting and expected a lot of fish.
I must stress the staff were excellent and the lodge was very clean.
Nice cottage at nice location to relax or kite”
Nice cottage, large bedroom with good bathroom. In forest/palm tree area, nice hammocks and sun beds. Personnel very friendly and good bar with nice view. Not much in Paje.
2 mile breakers”
Great food and great location. Warm water and all the beach you could want. One of the best places to kite surf.
The location is the only really added value of the hotel, placed on a pristine beach in Paje. Besides, the hotel was quite disappointing: no electricity in the room for almost the whole stay, rooms quite rustic for the price, restaurant's staff not very helpful...
Beautiful garden blocks view of ocean, nice bungalows, not stuffy”
Nice place overall. Beach is beautiful. The bungalows are bit dark and although simple and clean (enough), you don't really want to stay in them while it rains (which is all the time in April). The open-air bar area is a good place to go while raining - to see the ocean and have a drink. The pathways are consistently under A LOT of water when it rains. Plan to take shoes off entirely and wade through several centimeters of water for several meters - on a regular basis.
Excellent location and good service”
The seafront location, friendly staff, nice food
We enjoyed our stay at this calm and friendly lodge. The hospitality from the crew and the host was excellent which made you feel home. The seafront restaurant prepare nice and fresh food all day long. The most wonderful breakfast buffet is serviced by the chef preparing egg dish at your order. We really recommend Ndame if you can live without aircon in your lodge.
The location and the restaurant
Great place.; perfect for resting and kiting just in front of the hotel. Rooms are correct and the shower works great. The restaurant is one of the best in paje and the breakfast is also good. We really had a great time there.
Beach, Staff Friendliness, Relaxation
Great little getaway place. Amazing beach and views. Hide away from the world for a bit! Staff is very friendly and helpful.
All you need to enjoy Zanzibar”
Beautiful beachfront at the lagoon. Well managed. Very friendly stuff.
Enjoyed the stay at Ndame a lot. Traditional, simple beachfront hotel that integrates well in Africa. Everything was very organised, clean and worked nice thanks to Hans and the german management. Small lodge directly at the white beach with around 25 rooms or bungalows in the green. Food in the evening was very good - at bit more of fantasy would be beneficial to the breakfast. Wonderful bar at the beach. Perfect for families and couples. All you need is there - in this wonderful setting nobody needs TV, Airco or Fridge
Nice stay at Ndame ”
the location, the garden, the house
We enjoyed the stay there very much. It was just perfect and can be recommended with children as well.
Over all good.”
Good food, Nice beach
Over all Everything was good. Most of the staff in the resturant and the cleaner was verry helpfull. Some of the staff need to be trained a bit more. Okey price for what u get in the place.
A week in Paje”
There was a big bowl of water outside the bungalows to step into before going inside - to clean your feet from sand. Nice detail! Decent breakfast. Restaurant at the beach.
Maybe it was our really high expectations that made us a little bit disappointed with our stay.
The room was nice and clean - but the very slow ceiling fan didn't do a lot to cool us down during night. Good towels! Good mosquito net.
The restaurant had the slowest service I think we have experienced in Tanzania - which is not such a big deal if the prices weren't so high compared to other restaurants we visited. The dishes were not that good either - avoid the salads and the "tapas plate". As a vegetarian there was only one Swahili dish on the menu - pretty good but not something you can eat for both lunch and dinner during several days. In general the best food was probably the pizzas and the pasta - but come on, I can eat that at home! The samosas were really good too, not to forget. The biggest problem was always signing the bill (to put the cost on our room) - a few times we actually left when we had enough of waiting - without signing it. The first night we ordered the Piña Colada which was supposed to come in a fresh coconut - but it didn't. Kind of disappointing!
Ndame offered really good sun beds on the beach. Also towels for the beach! That is a great service.
We asked the staff to organise a transfer to the Rock restaurant - but when we showed up it wasn't booked. We did two other bookings where everything worked well though!
In general the staff was very nice :)
The beach is nice but with a lot of sea weed etc. We came from Kendwa and Nungwi in the north and maybe it is not really fair to compare, but that was "unfortunately" our point of reference. The tide makes it impossible to take a dip for several hours per day! Luckily there is almost always a nice breeze which makes sun bathing amazing anyway :)
a disappointing new year 2015”
breakfast, that's it.
There was an unfriendly feeling at Ndame, the staff seemed unhappy, the owners un caring. There are not enough loungers, which really is a bore. Who wants to get up early to put a towel on a lounger. The dining area is dark and cramped with not enough seating and it was too windy to sit outside. We went out to eat for dinner every night. There was nothing special layer on for New Year's Eve.
When we checked out no one cared if we had had a nice time or anything like that. I mentioned I had been sick to the lady in charge, apologising for any mess. She did not say, ' oh dear are you better?' Or something like that, just didn't register it.
We were glad to leave. Btw we stayed at 4 other places which did not at all have this dis agreeableness. We are not professional complainers!
Very nice days at Ndame Beach Lodge”
Location, the beach, the reef
Seemed not well managed.”
It is a stupid question when a hotel has not provide any good experience...
The lodge seemed not well managed. When we 6 persons arrived at 9PM,the receiption was cloased and only some handymen helped us to find our room. One of the room was different from what we booked, not twin beds, no sea view. When I complained on the next morning, the offical answer was "room was recoded"(!) and since ours were prepaid by credit card, there was no refund of the difference between the sea view room and normal one!! Besides, the waitress of the bar was not good either, I puchased an bottle of water on 2000TZS,meanwhile, it costed one of my friend 5 USD!!!(1USD=1600TZS), only because he had no TZS cash... To be fair, I must report another thing. We ordered a set of lobster on one dinner. The poor lobster seemd to have stayed on land(instead of the Indian ocean) for too many days and tasted not good at all. The lodge finnally reduced the price of the lobster from the total amout of the dinner. Beyond all above all, the Paje beach with smooth white sand is very quiet and beautiful.
