This is a "get away from it all " type of hotel , beautiful isolated location, professional mature staff who know what they are doing and a good kitchen.
The bathrooms and bedrooms need an update but the overall style of the hotel should not be changed.
Thank you very much to share with the users and us your recently experience.
We are glad to know that you have enjoyed during your last visit.
We will be pleased to welcome you again,
Nice hotel in a remote location”
This is a nice hotel, with some fantastic views of the beach and cliffs. It is very remote and is at the end of the coast road, with only a few private houses beyond. There is almost nothing within waking distance, one small bar/restaurant (closes at 9:30), and a nice, pebbly beach and that's it! We found El Hierro quite difficult to handle to be honest, you really have to like the remoteness and quietness. At some points across the island the isolation was almost errie. This hotel however is a good choice for those wanting some normality as there is a decent restaurant, not cheap but the food and service are good, and there is a hotel bar. The WiFi is a bit unreliable and the island wifi is not all its cracked up to be. Definitely opt for a sea view although the windows are very drafty.
Peace, relaxation and tranquillity”
Location on island and standard of amenities
Although at first glance a hotel in such an isolated spot may not seem like a good idea for exploring the island: in fact it is the only hotel with facilities within reasonable access. El Hierro is extremely mountainous, the main roads are good but there are steep climbs often reducing to single lanes, as the roads zig-zag up the sides of the volcanic landscape. A car is a necessity for exploring the nooks and coves and visiting all the Miradors to see the breath-taking views.
After a day driving and sightseeing on an island where the local sport seems to be seeing the frightened faces of tourists as they force you near the precipitous edge of the road (there are no safety barriers). It is lovely to get back to your quiet clean hotel, shower to get all the dust off before going to the restaurant. The ensuite bathrooms are well appointed and clean, though now a bit dated and tired probably due a refurbishment soon.
We had a double room with sea view and small balcony, it is really relaxing to sit on your balcony drinking tea and watching the waves. The room size is adequate not overly spacious clean and comfortable the daily room service is excellent and discreet; the staff wait until you go out before cleaning the room. There are no tea making facilities in the rooms just a small fridge with mini bar but you can put small items in there to keep cool. We took a travel kettle and mugs with us then bought a glass of milk in the bar and kept it in our mini fridge.
None of the restaurants on the island open before about 8pm so having a meal before returning to the hotel is not always practical but bar meals are available at the hotel all day. The hotel is about 20 mins away from the nearest restaurant which are not as frequent as you might expect on the island but do make the effort to eat locally as the food is excellent, fresh and cheaper than in the hotel restaurant which has quite a restricted menu.
Descanso en una isla increible”
Ya había visitado este hotel pero hace mucho años . La carretera ha mejorado muchísimo cosa de agradecer. Lo encuentro ideal para desconectar del mundo
