Very cool. You must stay at a Pausada. This one is much more reasonable than others and it was a very nice accommodation; the room was very spacious ,the staff was excellent and the food was excellent too. We purchased dinner there and it was one of our best meals on our entire trip ; we also had a wonderful breakfast included next to the courtyard since it was already cool outside ; visited in late October 2017 Do not miss this! The views are incredible and And then you can tell all your friends you stayed in a castle! then you can tell all your friends you stayed in a castle
Fabulous location and building....”
Location was fantastic as are the views from the hotel and surrounding medieval castle remains. The rooms are very nice and we had a great view. The restaurant was nice if not a little quiet ....more guests and some music needed would be nice. Also the staff member on the reception desk on arrival was very poor which is a shame considering the standard of service which is plastered on posters around the hotel. Overall though, lovely stay.
Wonderful location and pleasant room. Service variable.”
The position of the hotel could not be better and the room was comfortable. However the service varied from good (providing hot water for evening drinks as there was no room kettle) to poor (no help with heavy cases into or out of the hotel and no one around at breakfast).
We stayed at the pousada on the first night of our arrival after traveling from California, and were so glad we did. It was so much more relaxing than jumping right into the bustling city of Lisbon. The staff were very welcoming and the accommodations were clean, even though the rooms were a little unimpressive. Having the castle right next door was convenient, especially nice after such a long trip. Breakfast was good, plenty of choices both hot and cold. We had a cold beer and tremocos (lupini beans - Portugese version of beer and peanuts) at the little tavern in the castle. We had dinner in town which is a pleasant walk. We highly recommend this place. We don't know if there is much more to do in the area, but we were content with the very relaxing, quiet atmosphere.
