Restoration work to the façade of The Grand Brighton commenced in 2016 and is due to be completed at the end of 2018. To facilitate the renovation, the building is enveloped in scaffolding and an opaque wrap. The hotel shall remain open during this time and endeavour to keep any disruption to a minimum.
Please be aware that parking is limited and subject to availability and costs GBP 35 per day. The hotel car park has a height restriction of 7 feet, 5 inches (2.26 metres). Alternative parking can be found at the NCP Car Park.
Please note that there is a GBP 19.50 charge per adult to use the spa facilities unless a treatment is booked. If a treatment is booked, use of the spa facilities are included.
Property is under renovation, near to Brighton Pier & room was fantastic. Breakfast was nice
Beautiful building and convenient location”
Breakfast had good choice and the room was small but comfortable. Location very convenient for the centre of town with lots of shops and restaurant, and lovely walking out right onto the seafront. Only disappointment was the cost of parking at the hotel. I wish I'd have known about the public car park behind the hotel which would have been much cheaper.
Had just the best night”
Booked this quite last minute on Agoda for just one night. When we we arrived we were welcomed by the lovely doorman. He was just the loveliest man who gave us three choices of where to park for various prices for 24 hours (£18, £30 or £35). We chose the £18 one which was only a 3 minute walk away. Upon arriving at reception we were instantly offered a free upgrade to the double deluxe room which we were delighted with. On entering the room the view was stunning. Talk about a sea view! We actually felt like we were on a cruise ship & laying in bed all you could see was the sea. The room was massive as was the bathroom. The bed was large & comfortable. To be honest it is very hard to criticize anything about it. I have seen other reviews saying that the rooms were dirty. Not in my opinion they weren't. Yes you could say that the facade of the building is now looking a little worn as too are some of the ceilings in communal areas now but the hotel looks like its about to be refurbished anyway. Yes there was scaffolding outside but it didn't spoil our stay at all. The breakfast was fantastic too. Yes it was in January & i could imagine that the buffet could get quite busy in high season. All the staff were so lovely & friendly. Only stayed the one night but how we wished we were staying longer. I would definitely stay here again.
Hotel is easy to find and near to Underground train station. Lots of shop and Tesco is just behind. British Museum nearby and lots of things to walk around.
Parking was an issue”
There was no mention on booking that we would be charged £35. That is an outrageous amount of money considering the hotel took our car and parked it. There was obviously parking. I wouldnt mind a small amount but that is beyond a joke.
Nice hotel ”
rooms were ok little bit small but the location is very good
breakfast gets 10/10
We love the Grand and have stayed here several times before but this time was disappointing. My friend and I had single inland rooms on different floors. Lovely room but we both had a generator or something similar just outside the window which made a noise throughout the night and it was difficult to sleep. In the morning after I had my shower there was a knock at the door and a staff member told me the floor below had water dripping through the ceiling. 15 mins. later, another knock and 2 staff members asked me to put towels on the floor. I as also asked if I had used the shower with the curtain outside the bath which of course I hadn't. There was some water on the floor which had splashed through the gaps but no more than that. 10 mins.later and another knock on the door and I was asked when I was checking out. Each time I had to hurriedly get some clothes on to answer the door and there were no apologies for disturbing me. I am sorry that there was a problem but they really need to check their plumbing to find the cause and not assume that guests are carelessly flooding the bathroom.
Fantastic breakfast as always and very friendly and helpful staff. In the afternoon, we decided to have tea near the bar opposite reception but it was awful as builders were working in the next room and there was no end of crashing, banging and sawing !
All in all, a very noisy and restless couple of days which was a great shame.
Staff were extremely polite, location is great
Stay was OK, got to the hotel and the outside of the building needs restoring, doesn't look 'grand' at all.
The staff are great, really friendly, helpful and polite. This review is in no way reflects the staff of the hotel.
The hotel review is as follows;
Car park was full, had to pay £52 in total (for 27 hours) for the other car park the hotel use for overflow.
Room was OK, nothing special and dated, no view at all, no fridge (could get on one request), no minibar, bed was very comfy though.
Room service for an extremely small/underwhelming afternoon tea for 2 cost a fortune and the size and quality of the food did not reflect the expensive price.
Restaurant, again dated and didn't feel like we were staying in a grand hotel.
The spa was very disappointing, again, the staff were wondful, helpful and great at their jobs, but the facilities werent great, no pool, no water at all apart from a shower... So with the package of using the facility's for 2 hours, there's a room with comfy seating in and a suana and steam room, that is it.
All in all, I really felt that I overpaid by alot for what I was actually given, bit disappointed to be honest, would not recommend.
Very good service”
efficient staff, comfortable bed and good variety of food choice in breakfast
Convenient, friendly, grand
We enjoyed our stay, perfect location
Amazing bar with live music and fantastic service!
We had a brilliant time
GOOD OLD HOTEL”
OLD old Old
OLD nice hotel, wonderful view but the restaurant is bad :)
Grand and comfortable, with some disappointment”
Beach location, prestige, decent rate
In short: a fine hotel, good breakfast, but for us a bit less than imagined. I swear we saw a pool on a website link--there has not been a pool for two years, we were told. I'm sure the spa facilities are nice but we did not wish to pay extra for them. One nice thing we did was to wait an extra minute for a table to be ready in the sunroom/atrium, so we could see the ocean at breakfast, surely a highlight. Room was perfectly nice , smallish but without a view, hence the cheaper rate. Staff very accomodating and professional, as one would expect.
absolute beachfront, but …...”
great view of the beach, located close to the shops and restaurants
this hotel gets a big wrap online, so my expectations were high. we arrived by car and were greeted by very efficient driveway staff and porters. of course, the first word out of their mouth was do you want us to valet park and if so, that is 26 pound per night. i guess to be expected, but still expensive. it was after 2pm, so i expected to get straight to our room. the room of course, was not ready, so we had to come back 15 minutes later to check on the status. in my view, the least you should expect is that after 2pm, your room is ready. this is a 7 storey hotel, so when i heard the check in lady mention room, i started to get concerned. anyway, we eventually went to our room at about 2.40pm. i was really disappointed. the room had to be the least preferred room in the hotel and that really annoys me. it was indeed the 1st floor, it had this concrete solid wall as the balcony perimeter, so unless you were tall, you had only a view of the ocean in the distance. i hate it when hotels try you on with the worst room in the hotel. i paid for this booking in advance, some 5 months earlier, so it did not expect to receive this treatment. i decided to complain and we were offered another room on the sixth floor, but this room did not have a balcony. so we went from the worst room in the hotel to a room that was missing the balcony, when all other rooms facing the sea had balconies. the room itself is ok, decent size and fit out, but overall, my experience was far less than what i expected, especially having travelled half way around the world to stay here.
