the garden villa hotel in zuoying (northern kaohsiung)is in a great location -- 10 minute taxi ride from the high speed rail station, 15 minute walk from the rapid transit, 10 minute walk from lotus pond with nice walking and biking paths, a 5 minute walk from 7-11. everyone was friendly and helpful. the rooms were clean and new-looking. we enjoyed the big buffet breakfast with it's variety of western and chinese treats. a little pricey but nice.

I only had a short stay - mainly for the concert at KaoHsiung Arena. The building is a bit run-down, probably it was there already for a long time. Room is big, equipped with basic amenities. Staff were friendly. During my stay, maybe they were lack of staff, so cleaned up my room slightly later than expected. Nearby attractions are such as 'Lotus Pond', 'Rui-Feng Night Market' - walking distance for me. The place is near to KaoHsiung airport as well, accessible by local train. 'Arena Station' is near to this hotel, so it's easy to travel out of this 'Zuoying' District. Recommended for easy-going traveller :)

Travelers & Kitchen is a great value for a stay in Kaohsiung. Located a block from the Hanshin Department store and a quick 5 minute walk to the KMRT station of Kaohsiung Arena, it is superb for the price paid. The check in host was nice in the lobby area, as it also doubles as a nice bar for ex patriots and locals alike. Security was great with key card entries for the lobby, elevator and rooms. Facilities had CCTV cameras and check out was a breeze. Highly recommended and the pictures listed are 100% accurate, with themes in each respective room. Cozy, clean, casual environment with a nice ambiance throughout.

Pros: location. Price. Nice decoration. Great service. Cons: maybe small for 2 or more occupants. I would like to thank the hotel staff who acted on my request immediately regarding a group of very rowdy and noisy hotel guests on my floor that was causing a din too many the entire night and right after midnight. To the hotel guests who couldn't keep their volume Low, if you can't excercise consideration for others, please don't ever travel again.

Due to the Typhoon Yutu, we made a last minute decision to cancel our Kenting trip and needed an accommodation in Kaohsiung. We didn’t want to spend too much money because we had to forfeit our bookings in Kenting. The guesthouse was affordable and was located conveniently next to the Ruifeng nightmarket and less than 10mins walk to the train station. The building does not have a lift but thankfully our room (Egypt room) was on the second floor and the staff helped us to move our luggages up. Despite being near the nightmarket, the room was surprisingly quiet and I liked how spacious and clean it was. Best decision I made, thank you Giethoorn Guesthouse!

Saw recommendations for Urban on Weibo but manage to book at Agoda. Small but cozy place with relatively big room since I am solo traveling. Very near from metro station and easy to find, with Ruifeng night market just within reach. Staffs are friendly, helpful and approachable. The only downside is like all guesthouse which I've stayed they have no lift hence it'll be hard to bring large luggage up, then again I was backpacking so it's ok. The room is so pretty and comfortable I don't feel like leaving when it's time to check out. Will definitely be choosing Urban again the next time I travel to Kaohsiung.

I usually don't write reviews but this time I was really super surprised! POSITIVE surprised! The room is super big and comfortable! I loved the private whirlpool and steam room the most! Best for couples or some friends who wanna have a chilled out evening in the whirlpool, while drinking beer and watching TV. But yes if u travel with several people, there is no door to the toilet, it is an open one, haha. But besides that best motel I have stayed so far!

Booked a double room which located at the ground floor with Santorini theme! The shower room was a huge surprise, you can enjoy bathtub either under the sunlight or starlight! Room amenities were good, the receptionist is super friendly and helpful! The only comment here would be the location of the hotel itself, it is not located friendly as we thought. Although the nearest station, night market, etc within walking distance but it wasn't at the 'above good' I would rated. It was just not that 'location friendly' I would say. Nevertheless, overall would be still a great place to stay and I will return if happen to visit Kaohsiung again in the future.

Booked 2 rooms (quad and double) with some requests in my booking and owner Steve was very accomodative and nice to contact me to make arrangements for my requests and I already had very good impression of the place that I would be staying even before I went to Taiwan. Stayed the first night out of the 7 nights for my 8d7n stay in Taiwan and this was really the best accomodation among the 5 hotels for my 7 nights stay. Steve was really so friendly, nice and responsive. Luna House was very well kept and clean with a nice lift too. Steve was not there when I arrived and his mum was very nice to send us (she had to make 2 trips as her car could not take the 6 of us) to the shopping centre though it was only a few minutes walk as she wanted to show us how to walk back after our shopping. All of us had a good stay and really a pity it was only for a night. I will book Luna House again if I go back to Kaoshiung again. Thank you Steve for being such a good host.

The location is just 10 minutes by taxi from zuoying thsr. There is also a bus station near the hotel, bus 205 stops there. I booked a 1person in 18 dormitory, luckily I was assigned to a 2bed room and there was no other guest to shared it with. The breakfast was nice compared to other dormitory I stayed with. The hotel is a15 minutes walk to dragon and tiger pagodas, autumn and spring pavilions and a lot more.

Jeff's cozy home has made my trip in Kaohsiung much easier and happier. Jeff was super nice and helpful in providing help with my heavy suitcase, drinks and snacks everyday, useful travel information, and a pack of snacks for me to take away at the end of the trip. I was so delighted that the room was spacious and well-lit; the interior design is both artsy and practical. I enjoyed every minute staying in the room including finishing up one of the books (by Ando Tadao) Jeff provided for guests. I was also delighted that I could use the washing machine and air-dry laundry on the top floor (there is also a dryer). Jeff and his wife were so generous that they allowed me to use their kitchen to heat lunch box and shared with me their stories. Their two little ones, Hehe and Chuanchuan are just cute to chat with (sometimes they are too cool to respond to my questions). Because of change of plan, I arrived a few days later than planned. For the non-refundable part, Jeff kindly allowed me to stay one more night for free. The location is great too. I enjoyed walking in the green neighborhood seeing the old people cooling off and chatting in the alley. For most of the days I walked to the place where I did my project --- a good walk in summer heat. I took uber sometimes and it's a convenient location for Uber or taxi. Overall Jeff's home is a perfect choice for my trip. I look forward to visiting it next time when I come to Kaohsiung! Thanks, Jeff and your family for your hospitality!

We are travelling with a young kid. This hotel is chosen because of its price, decoration and location. We requested for a "Hello Kitty Room". My daughter likes it very much. There is a big bathtub. My daughter treats it as a swimming pool. The bed is big enough for 2 adults and a young kid. They provide set breakfast free of charge. You may also get your breakfast handy from eateries nearby. It is about 5 - 10 minutes walk from Eco Park Station, which is one station away from Arena Station in which the Yui Fung Night Market is located. As to price, it is 2000 for weekdays and 2500 for weekends (or vice versa ...?). You can't get this offer from any other places.
