Chennai International Airport has three terminals: Terminal 1 serves domestic flights; Terminal 3 caters to international arrivals; and Terminal 4 is where international departures take off. The airport currently (2020) is undergoing an expansion project to accommodate its more than 40 million passengers each year.   • Getting between terminals: Chennai International Airport offers free shuttle services for passengers who need to get from one terminal to another.
  • Commuter train: hop on the train at Tirusulam Station near the airport and arrive at either Chennai Park Station or Chennai Egmore Station in minutes!
  • Metro: catch the metro to Chennai Central Station. The station is just outside Fort St. George in Chennai’s historic district.
  • Taxi: find a taxi in the Arrivals Hall after landing in Chennai. Most taxis are prepaid, and fees are charged according to destination.
  • Bus: taking the bus in Chennai is a great way to travel like locals and see unique parts of the city. A bus ride will take more time than a ride on the train or metro, but travelers on a budget can appreciate the cheap price of a ticket!
