Digital travel platform Agoda has announced a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation (MHESI) aimed at upskilling students across Thailand by teaching them about real-world applications of technology in a corporate environment and inspiring them to pursue further studies and careers in the tech sector.

Under the MOU with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), Agoda’s tech experts are aiming to empower future tech leaders with a focus on higher education institutions and the local technology industry. The partnership is built on a range of initiatives aimed at nurturing technology skills and strengthening the technology industry across Thailand, including:

  • Conducting a series of technology workshops nationwide under Agoda Tech Camp Day to educate and empower students with a passion for technology
  • Collaborating with higher education institutions to enhance their technology curricula based on real-world applications and offer internship opportunities to nurture local talent.
  • Partnering with public institutions, think tanks, and government entities in technology and AI research to generate ideas and support tech startups through knowledge sharing.

Varuntida Varutbangkul, Vice President of Product at Agoda, said: “We are thrilled to partner with MHESI in nurturing the next generation of tech leaders in Thailand. As a global organization with operations based in Thailand, we feel it’s important to give back by investing in local talent and sharing how technology can empower businesses.”

The partnership was signed at the 6th edition of Agoda Tech Camp Day, held at Panyapiwat Institute of Management in Nonthaburi. This initiative is designed to offer in-depth tech workshops that make learning both fun and engaging for students. Over the course of six editions, Agoda has reached the milestone of fostering a passion for technology in more than 2,000 students. Held over two days, this edition introduced a new curriculum focused on teaching students how to utilize AI as a learning companion.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM Thailand) recently recognized Agoda Tech Camp Day with the Ambassador’s Special Award at the AMCHAM Thailand Corporate Social Impact Awards for empowering and creating resilient communities through education, upskilling, and entrepreneurship.

Wannee Nonsiri, Inspector-General, MHESI, said: “This partnership with Agoda is a testament to our commitment to advancing technological education and innovation in Thailand. Together, we will create a brighter tomorrow for our future generation and the industry all together.”
