Agoda takes on the 45,000 Yen challenge. Best-for-less itineraries for Japanese travelers this June.

The numbers are in!  According to Agoda’s Travel Trend Survey, people are spending consciously on holidays this year. The majority of travelers in Asia, Australia, and the United States have set a spending range of 201 – 500 USD (~27,750 – 69,000 JPY) per person for travel and accommodation. To help travelers see the world for less, digital travel platform Agoda shares potential budget-friendly itineraries for travel this June.

In a recent Agoda Travel Trend Survey, conducted by YouGov, respondents from across Asia, Australia, and the United States were asked about their travel budget for this year. A 2023 spending range of 27,750 – 69,000 Yen per person was selected most often, including in Japan.

Never one to shy away from a challenge, digital travel platform Agoda has split the difference, called it 45,000 yen, and came up with two great itineraries for travelers to spend five days exploring Japan or three days traveling abroad – all for under 90,000 Yen for two.

“As a platform that is passionate about getting the best deals for our customers, we wanted to look at travel options that fit well within the expected travel spends, said Hiroto Ooka, Associate Vice President North Asia at Agoda. “Bundling accommodation and flights, capitalizing on additional discounts in the Agoda app, or by using money-saving features like ‘price freeze’ are great ways to make your money go further, and enable travelers to create and discover many different itinerary options”.

For this 45,000 Yen challenge, Agoda explored its platform to discover flights, accommodation as well as some activities to keep guests entertained at their destination, while adhering to the set budget. Some of the best value domestic and international itineraries are shared here for two people traveling in June.

Domestic: Okinawa Main Island (87,389 Yen for two)

Take a Peach flight on 19 June from Narita airport to Okinawa Main Island. Upon arrival, we’ll check in at Cottage Star House. The days here will be jam-packed, with so much to explore on the island: The Nakijin Castle Ruins, Cape Maeda, Nakijin Village, Sesoko Island Park, and much more.  We also plan to visit Churaumi Aquarium. Tickets for the aquarium can be booked on Agoda and are therefor part of our official itinerary and fit the budget.

International: Seoul, South Korea (89,112 Yen for two)

We’re off for a three night trip to Seoul, South Korea. One of the most popular international destinations for Japanese travelers. On June 26th, we board a Zip Air flight from Narita to Incheon International Airport after which we check in to Hotel Juno, which has a 9+ review rating on Agoda. It’s almost impossible to decide what to do in Seoul, there’s too much to choose from! What about a journey to the first royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty, Gyeongbokgung Palace? Or a culinary trip to Sejong Village Food and Beverage Culture Streeet? An official part of our itinerary will be an Agoda-booked 1-hour Eland Cruise on the Han river, that meanders through Seoul’s heart. A perfect way to unwind from the bustling city life.
