Agoda To Sponsor 350,000 THB Honeymoon to Celebrate Thai Marriage Equality

To celebrate the expected change in marriage equality in Thailand, digital travel platform Agoda announced it will award a honeymoon voucher of up to 350,000 THB to one of the first LGBTQIA+ couples to legally marry in Thailand. The couple will be able to spend the amount on accommodations, flights, and activities on Agoda’s travel platform.

With the marriage equality bill receiving support from a majority of Thailand’s parliament earlier this year, it is widely expected to come into effect some time in 2024. Marriage equality is the main theme of the upcoming Bangkok Pride event, of which Agoda is the Official Online Travel Partner. The honeymoon sponsorship fits within Agoda’s message for this year’s pride: ‘Bridging the world with pride’.

Agoda CEO Omri Morgenshtern shared “For anyone familiar with Thailand’s warm and welcoming culture it will be no surprise to see Thailand become the first Southeast Asian nation with marriage equality . I couldn’t be happier for our Agoda colleagues that will soon be able to marry the person they love. And what better way to celebrate than doing what we do best: Offering an amazing holiday!”

The couple will be invited to select a roundtrip to the destination of their choice with an all-in value of up to 350,000 THB. They will be able to choose from over four million holiday properties worldwide, 130,000 flight routes, and thousands of activities on Agoda’s platform. Agoda will announce the mechanics of how the honeymoon will be awarded after the legislative change has been fully approved.

Agoda recently announced its partnership with Bangkok Pride, becoming the organization’s Official Online Travel Partner. It is proof of Agoda’s ongoing support the LGBTQIA+ community, both internally and outside of the organization. The 2024 edition will be held on Saturday 1 June and consists of educational, cultural, and festive events, including the annual parade. Agoda will be one of the official participants of the parade.
