Where are Thais headed for Labor Day?

Despite Songkran, one of the biggest travel periods of the year, just wrapping up, many Thais are still taking advantage of the upcoming Labor Day (1 May) to travel, according to global online booking platform Agoda.  While Tokyo takes the top spot, Thai destinations dominate the top five escapes, as many travelers head to the beach for the long weekend.

The cosmopolitan city of Bangkok is the most popular local hot spot at #2, while Pattaya (#3), Hua Hin (#4), Phuket (#5) and Chiang Mai (#9) provide the perfect relaxing short haul domestic getaway.

Many Thais have chosen to take off days surrounding Labor Day to travel further afield, with tourists flocking to Tokyo (#1) and Osaka (#7) to soak up the festivities surrounding Japan’s Golden Week. These include food festivals, traditional matsuri (Japanese festivals) and outdoor music events, there is no shortage of seasonal activities to enjoy.
