Daejeon contains multiple theme parks and educational museums, and it’s ok to spend all day at any of them! These three attractions are all worthy of exploring on day one but can be incorporated easily into another day during a trip to Daejeon.
- EXPO Science Park – visitors can explore the 1993 Daejeon EXPO through recreated exhibits and hands-on experiences. This park is an excellent way to mix education with thrills as it provides stimulating activities for children, an observatory shaped like a space station and a museum that features thousands of mementos from the 1993 expedition.
- Daejeon O-World – parents will earn bonus points for taking the kids to this diverse theme park that features Zoo Land, Flower Land and Joy Land. The sections feature more than 500 animals, maze gardens and thrilling rides, respectively.
- National Science Museum – guests can align with the stars at National Science Museum, an interactive “heavenly” experience that contains hands-on activities, hundreds of exhibits and a planetarium that delivers out-of-this-world adventures.

Day 2 Daejeon Itinerary | Parks & Mountains
Daejeon in central South Korea is not lacking in scenic beauty. Travelers who are into outdoor activities and nature won’t be disappointed to discover the area’s rich forests and nature reserves. Each of these green spaces contains numerous activities appropriate for all ages and a chance to feel relaxed, refreshed and totally in touch with nature.
- Jangtaesan Mountain Natural Recreation Forest – the first recreation forest established in South Korea features miles of walking trails, a fish and deer farm and a children’s playground. Visitors also can admire the grounds from an observation tower set inside a diverse forest teeming with native flora, fauna and wildlife.
- Ppuri Park – children can learn about the origins of Korean family names in addition to traffic safety at this fun-filled park set on a serene riverside. Not only does the park offer lessons in traffic safety, but it also allows children to putt around the grounds in mini motor cars!
- Daecheong Lake Eco Park – developed in 1980 to coincide with the opening of Daecheong Dam, this scenic park is home to migratory birds and a magnificent observatory. Visitors also can tour the summer house of South Korea’s president here.
- Hanbat Arboretum – connected with the eye-catching Government Complex-Daejeon and EXPO Science Park, this widespread green space provides educational activities in sections known as West Garden, East Garden and Tropical Botanical Garden. East Garden is a complex attraction with 19 themed section, and the arboretum also features a children’s playground.

Day 3 Daejeon Itinerary | Shopping & Food
One simply can’t visit Daejeon without experiencing Korean food and browsing for unique souvenirs. Inside the city, tourists will find several markets and shopping districts that emphasize local flare, Korean traditions and modern fashions.
- Daejeon Jungang Market – this traditional Korean market within walking distance of Daejeon Station features a general market, arcade and wholesale market. Visitors will find shops selling clothing, souvenirs and local goods, as well as an abundance of delicious food. Don’t leave until you’ve tried a few favorites, particularly hotteok (pancakes with sweet fillings), mandu (Korean dumpling) and nurungji (crunchy rice cakes).
- Euneujeongi Street – a fashion extravaganza in city center, this shopping street is lined with designer stores and trendy shops. It’s most popular with younger crowds but guarantees adventure for any tourist in Daejeon.
- Sungsimdang Bakery #1 – treat yourself to a decades-old tradition unique only to Daejeon. The bakery has three locations, but the original store is a short walk from Jungangno Station at 15 Daejong-ro 480beon-gil in Eunhaeng-dong, Jung-gu district. Fans recommend twigim soboro, a crunchy fried streusel with red bean filling, but agree that most of the sweet (and savory) desserts found at the shop are second to none.
- Daejeon Skyroad – this covered walking street features rows of cosmetic, fashion and electronics stores alongside dozens of trendy bars, cafés and karaoke shops. The area is always hopping during the day, but at night, visitors will find whirling neon structures depicting butterflies, flowers and fireworks.
