Why visit Bali Zoo?

The Bali Zoo park is home to over 500 individual animals representing 70 species native to Indonesia, including all manner of birds, reptiles, and mammals. Just some of the many animal species you’ll get to see at the zoo are lions, tigers, crocodiles, otters, gibbons, cockatoos, deer, elephants, and orangutans! There is also a wide variety of tropical plants growing across the lush grounds. Take in a large selection of Indonesia’s flora and fauna as you stroll along the well-shaded paths and participate in some of the zoo’s interactive experiences.

A visit to Bali Zoo also helps support the conservation efforts that go on here. The zoo has an excellent breeding and release program for endangered species that earned it the Best Conservation and Recreation Institution award from the Indonesian government in 2017.

Bali Zoo programs

While general admission allows you to come and walk around the park at your own pace, Bali Zoo also has four fantastic programs that provide a more immersive experience. Each one offers something unique, so take your pick for the best program for your family or travel party. The price of the programs that take place during daytime hours also covers the general entrance fee, so you can continue to explore the zoo after program activities.

Breakfast with Orangutan

Breakfast with Orangutan lets you dine with some of the zoo’s most popular residents: the orangutans! When guests arrive, they are first treated to a morning tea or coffee. You will then enjoy a full breakfast, included in the cost of admission, while the incredible animals hang out nearby. You’ll hardly be able to focus on the delicious food while the cheeky orangutans frolic and play just a few feet away. This is the zoo’s most family-friendly activity, perfect for kids and adults of all ages. It’s also a magical and memorable experience for couples to share.

Night at the Zoo

Once general admission hours end, Bali Zoo comes alive again with the Night at the Zoo program. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., guests get to explore the zoo park after dark. If you have an evening to spare during your trip to Bali, this is one experience you don’t want to miss. You’ll get to interact with a wide variety of nocturnal animals that aren’t typically very active in the day during their prime hours. Night at the Zoo is always a hit with adults and children alike.

Your nighttime adventure will begin in the zoo’s Deer Park, where guests are welcome to hand-feed the deer with provided vegetables. The next stop is Wana Plaza for a selection of drinks and appetizers and a chance to meet other nocturnal zoo residents. Dinner begins at 7 p.m., and guests are provided with an a la carte menu featuring Indian cuisine as well as vegetarian and barbeque dishes.

After dinner, it’s time for the main event: a torchlight tour lead by the zoo’s knowledgeable guides. You’ll get to see a variety of different animals, including bearcats, snakes, owls, and more. A portion of the tour also involves a trip in a safari car to feed the elephants and to visit the tigers. The night wraps up with a stunning performance by talented fire dancers.

If you are attending Night at the Zoo, it is recommended that you bring insect repellent and hand sanitizer to use after feeding the animals (guides will be providing hand sanitizer as well). Guests are welcome to take photos but are asked to please make sure that the flash is turned off.
