Melbourne Airport, also commonly known as Tullamarine Airport, is the only international airport serving the Melbourne area. It is located 14 miles northwest of the city center, offering convenient access to top landmarks like Federation Square, Royal Botanic Gardens, and Queen Victoria Market. If your travels will be taking you through Australia’s second-busiest airport, then here is a guide to help you get around.

Melbourne Airport provides flights to more than 30 domestic destinations, as well as international destinations in Asia, Europe, and North and South America. It serves as a hub for Qantas, Virgin Australia, Jetstar Airways, Tigerair Australia, and Regional Express Airlines. In terms of passenger traffic, Melbourne Airport sees around 35 million travelers a year (25 million domestic and 10 million international). Though it is a relatively large airport with four terminals, it is not difficult to get around.

Getting to & from Melbourne Airport
There are several different options for getting to and from Melbourne Airport. Your four main choices are taxi, rideshare, bus, or car rental.
- Taxi – Taxi ranks are located right outside of the terminals at Melbourne Airport. There is a $4.50 access fee for taxi pickup from the airport in addition to the total fare, but no extra fee for drop-off. The drive to and from the airport and the Melbourne city center takes about 30 minutes.
- Rideshare – Melbourne Airport also has pickup and drop-off locations for those who prefer to use rideshare apps. There is an additional $4.48 rideshare access fee per trip.
- Bus – The easiest way to get to Melbourne from Melbourne Airport by bus is via the Skybus, which operates every 10 minutes throughout the day. Skybus service desks are located in each terminal, and a one-way ticket is just $19.75. Alternatively, Public Transport Victoria buses are also available from the Ground Transport Hub of Terminal 4.
- Car Rental – A number of car rental companies operate out of Melbourne Airport, including Enterprise, Budget, Avis, Europcar, Thrifty, and Hertz. Renting a car is a convenient and affordable way to get around Melbourne.
