Sapporo Travel – 8 Hokkaido Attractions & Spectacular Views

Sapporo travel features many spots for enjoying gem-like night views. Mt. Hakodate is one of Hokkaido’s most famous night view spots, but the night views in Sapporo are so spectacular, it has been named one of the “New Three Major Night Views of Japan.” Its charm lies in a city of nearly 2 million people with few tall buildings. Here are eight must-see night view spots in Sapporo.
1. Mt. Moiwa Summit Observation Deck
At 531 meters, Mount Moiwa Observation Deck is a popular night view spot with a wide panorama overlooking Sapporo. A “Happy Bell” has been set up at the top of this mountain, which has been chosen as a sacred place for lovers. It is believed that couples who write their names on a “Love Padlock,” sold at a shop there, and attach it to the handrail together will never break up.
The cable car at Moiwa Sanroku Station makes it easy to access the summit of Mt. Moiwa. A beautiful night view unfolds before your eyes as you make your way to the summit via the ropeway and Mo-risu car (mini cable car). Experience the changing night view as you slowly ascend on the ropeway.
After enjoying the beautiful night view at the summit of Mt. Moiwa, why not enjoy a delicious meal at The Jewels? Here, there are special tables at the highest spot in Sapporo where you can create a new memory with someone special. Indulge in delectable local cuisine as you enjoy a spectacular sparkling view.
2. JR Tower Observation Deck T38
Located on the 38th floor at a height of 160 m, “JR Tower Observation Deck T38” provides a 360-degree panoramic night view of Sapporo. From the south side, you can enjoy a brilliant view of the downtown area including Odori and Susukino, and on the north side, you can take in a quiet night view of residential areas that extend into the distance. At this popular night view spot, you can chose the view that fits your mood.
Adults can enjoy a relaxing time with a beautiful view at “JR Tower Observation Deck T’CAFÉ”
T’CAFÉ is a café and bar located in the observatory. This is a recommended night view spot to relax and experience a jewel-like night view of Sapporo while enjoying a variety of drinks including wines and cocktails along with food.
3. Sapporo TV Tower
Sapporo TV Tower, the symbol of Sapporo, is located to the east of Odori Park. From the observation deck, you have a 360-degree panoramic view of the City of Sapporo. Also, because it faces Odori Park, it is perfect for observing various events held there such as the “Sapporo White Illumination” and “Sapporo Snow Festival.” There are also restaurants and souvenir shops in the tower, so it is a great sightseeing spot for tourists.
4.NORIA
As Sapporo‘s first rooftop Ferris wheel, this is a popular spot for tourists and couples. And because it’s Sapporo, the seats are of course heated, so the gondolas are warm even in winter. Enjoy watching the snow fall to the ground and the sparkling night view inside a warm gondola. Since it is located in the middle of downtown, taking a ride on NORIA will make you feel as though you are taking a walking on the air.
5. Sapporo Okurayama Viewing Point
Okurayama has a 90-meter ski jump (currently a large hill) that was used in the Sapporo winter games in 1972 and is still used for a number of international events. It is a unique spot where you can get a close-up view of the ski jump platform and experience the sensation of a professional ski jumper. The night view from the observation deck located just above the ski jump start platform is a jump platform and night view collaboration that you can only experience here. The facility is open until 5:00 p.m., so this special night view can only be experienced in winter when the sun sets early.
6. Shiroi Koibito Park
Shiroi Koibito Park is a sweets-themed park in Sapporo. In winter, the illumination reflects on snow at night, creating a beautiful, popular spot. This year, a large wall of Shiroi Koibito Park was transformed into a new play zone that fuses projection mapping and gaming. A skate rink without ice will also be setup where lights and images move on the floor.
7. Sky Restaurant Rondo
A beautiful night view with a delicious meal is a combination you must experience. The revolving restaurant, Sky Restaurant Rondo, located on the 23rd floor of the Century Royal Hotel close to Sapporo Station, is highly recommended. From this revolving restaurant, you can take in a 360-degree night view panorama. This restaurant gives you a perfect view of Sapporo for a luxurious time.
8. French cuisine Le Trianon at Sapporo Prince Hotel
Sapporo Prince Hotel is a beautiful 107-meter-tall cylindrical building with 587 rooms on 28 floors. The night view from the restaurant French cuisine Le Trianon, located on the 28th floor, is one attraction of the hotel. It has high ceilings and an open floor area. The combination of French food and a night view of Sapporo makes this a perfect place for special occasions such as anniversaries.
