Phuket town-Phuket Weekend Night Market

Phuket Town Markets

Markets are an important part of life throughout Thailand, and it’s no different in Phuket Town. The markets are where locals come to buy all manner of food and goods and, of course, where tourists come to hunt for affordable souvenirs. Phuket Town has a great selection of markets where you can find just about everything you might need and more.

Phuket Weekend Night Market

You shouldn’t pass up an opportunity to visit the Phuket Weekend Night Market, as it is the largest night market on the island. Located along the western edge of Phuket Town, the market takes place every Saturday and Sunday evening. The vendors carry a wide variety of second-hand goods like jeans, T-shirts, and other types of clothing. It is also a great place to pick up shoes, jewelry, and accessories like bags and watches, as well as all sorts of electronic and electronic accessories. In addition to the shopping section, the Phuket Weekend Night Market has a large food section where you can sample all of the best Thai street dishes in one place.

Chillva Market Phuket

Chillva Market Phuket is easily the hippest night market in town and, in fact, on the whole island. It is particularly popular among teenagers, but there is something here for everyone to buy and to try. The market is open every day of the week except for Sunday, making it a great place to spend a weekday evening in Phuket Town. Part of what makes Chillva Market Phuket unique is that many of the items available are original creations. You’ll find clothing, accessories, shoes, jewelry, and more, all at very reasonable prices. There is also a great food section known for its fried bugs. Don’t worry, there are plenty of other foods to eat as well.

Phuket Indy Market

Phuket Indy Market is a lesser-known spot that offers a laid-back shopping experience. The market is small, clean, and easy to navigate, as it is situated on just one lane and will only take you about half an hour to fully explore. You’ll find a variety of typical market goods here, including clothing, shoes, jewelry, and bags. Some vendors sell unique and handcrafted items as well, which make for excellent souvenirs. There are also artist booths that do caricature portraits and manicure stands where you can have your nails done. Phuket Indy Market takes place on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings on Limelight Avenue Phuket, just off Dibuk Road.

Sunday Walking Street Market

The Sunday Walking Street Market is the most popular attraction in Phuket Old Town. It takes place, as the name suggests, every Sunday evening along Thalang Road, starting at around 4 p.m. It is a family-friendly market that caters to visitors of all ages. You’ll find vendors selling handcrafted goods, local culinary specialties, and even a wide variety of toys for children. Some of the most popular foods to eat include ice cream, traditional Thai sweets, and traditional Thai barbecue dishes. The stalls are flanked by the stunning Sino-Portuguese Buildings of Old Town, creating a bright and lively atmosphere. Street performers provide entertainment throughout the market as well.

Closer to the seashore, there is also a great selection of some authentic Thai restaurants. Saphan Hin Mining Monument is a nice place to feel the refreshing ocean breeze and enjoy a walk along the water.

Phuket town-Monkey Hill

Monkey Hill

Monkey Hill is the best place to see monkeys in Phuket Town. The hill is home to a troupe of friendly macaques that don’t mind the presence of visitors. It is recommended that you do not try to feed the monkeys, however, as they can be unpredictable. You can watch them at your leisure and take as many photos as you like, just make sure your loose belongings are secure, as these curious creatures have been known to steal everything from cheap sunglasses to expensive handbags. Once you’re finished with the monkeys, make your way to the top of the hill, where you will find a platform that offers wonderful views of the city.

Phuket town-Wat Khao Rang Samakkhitham

Wat Khao Rang Samakkhitham

Wat Khao Rang Samakkhitham is a charming Buddhist temple located on the slopes of a popular hill in Phuket Town known as Khao Rang. The main draw of the temple is a large golden statue of the Buddha, which was the first large Buddha statue on the island. The temple itself is visually striking, making use of bright colors and traditional carvings. It has a very peaceful atmosphere that makes it perfect for a relaxing stroll. If you come in the morning, you will even have the chance to see some of the locals give food and alms to the temple’s monks. Entry is free, but visitors are asked to dress modestly.

Phuket town-Khao Rang Viewpoint

Khao Rang Viewpoint

After a visit to Wat Khao Rang Samakkhitham, you can continue up Khao Rang and make your way to the famous Khao Rang Viewpoint. This is one of the very best viewpoints in all of Phuket, offering vistas across Phuket Town and all the way to the small islands off the coast. The viewpoint is marked by a white pagoda, which leads to a platform that extends over the side of the hill. The pagoda is surrounded by nice landscaped gardens perfect for a picnic. If you’d prefer a sit-down dining experience, then there are some excellent restaurants nearby as well, each of which offers a view with your meal.
