Phuket Nightlife | Go-Go Bars on Bangla Road & Family-Friendly Activites

Phuket has a well-earned reputation for having a serious party scene, and Phuket nightlife, in particular, can get a little wild. That said, there’s still plenty to do for those who prefer more laidback evening entertainment. Much of the island’s nightlife is centered in Patong, a once sleepy fishing village now packed with tourists pretty much around the clock thanks to its beautiful beaches and abundance of night clubs and go-go bars. If your ideal night out involves more adrenaline than alcohol, you can check out a Thai boxing match or book a night dive with one of the local scuba companies. Looking for things to do in Phuket with kids at night? Phuket nightlife boasts several exciting cultural productions, multiple markets, and a mini golf course that’s open late. (Please check with venues during COVID-19 restrictions before planning a Phuket itinerary.)
Phuket Nightlife | Bangla Road
Bangla Road is unquestionably the center of the livelier elements of Phuket’s nightlife scene. Located in the center of Patong, the nighttime entertainment of Bangla Road is actually what draws many people to Phuket. As soon as the sun goes down, the neon lights flash on, and Bangla Road closes to traffic. Tourists and club promoters then fill the street! Bangla Road and the surrounding side streets, or sois, are packed with discos, go-go bars, and lounges of all types. Thanks to the street performers doing everything from magic to fire spitting, the fun starts even before you enter one of the many watering holes that line the street. (During COVID-19 restrictions, most bars and clubs on Bangla Road are temporarily closed.)
The Top Five Clubs and Bars on Bangla Road
- Tiger Nightclub is a sprawling, three-story building containing everything you need for a night on the town. The 5,000-square-meter complex contains a disco, multiple bars, a restaurant, and a pool club, so you could easily spend your whole night within its walls. The disco is open from 9:30pm to 4am, but some of the bars on the first floor open earlier.
- White Room Nightclub is one of the older nightclubs on Bangla Road, but thanks to a major overhaul, it is now also one of the more upscale establishments. The club has a massive dance floor, several bars, and an elevated VIP section where you can secure a table by buying bottle service. There is no cover charge, but there is a dress code, so visitors should make sure to dress smartly. The club is open Monday through Saturday from 10pm to 3am.
- Red Hot is one of the best live music venues on Bangla Road. Bands play a variety of western pop and rock hits every night, and most are happy to take requests. There is a happy hour every night before the bands begin. Red Hot is open daily from 11am to 4am.
- SUZY WONG’S AGO GO is one of Patong‘s most iconic go-go bars. The club is hard to miss thanks to the bright red door, which is illuminated by a Chinese-style lantern that casts a red glow on the entrance. Inside the club, you’ll find tables and sofas arranged around a main stage, where a variety of shows are performed each night. There is no cover charge to enter SUZY WONG’S AGO GO, which is open daily from 7:30pm to 3am.
- TaiPan Entertainment and Hotel combines all of the most popular elements of Bangla Road‘s nightlife. The club offers live music, dancing, plenty of drink specials, and beautiful dancers. Happy hour begins when the club opens at 8;30pm and runs until 10pm. The party continues until TaiPan Entertainment and Hotel closes at 6am.

Phuket Nightlife | Beach Clubs & Rooftop Bars
Phuket‘s gorgeous beaches are one of the area’s main draws, and thanks to the abundance of beachside bars, there’s no reason to leave the shore to enjoy the nightlife. From Kamala Beach to Patong, there are tons of bars where you can enjoy a cocktail with your toes in the sand during the day and then dance to the beats of a live DJ once the sun goes down. You’ll also find lots of bars and lounges on rooftops and terraces, many with a view of the Andean Sea.
5 of the Best Beach Clubs and Rooftop Bars in Phuket
- With a 35-meter swim-up bar, luxurious poolside cabanas, and a rooftop terrace, Xana Beach Club is an ideal place to spend the day. If you lounge by the pool all day, you’ll be well situated to catch the sunset over the sea and enjoy the club’s nighttime vibes. As soon as the sun goes down, the DJ starts spinning soul, funk, and disco hits. The club serves a full menu with contemporary Mediterranean dishes in addition to inventive craft cocktails. The pool stays open late, so you can swim under the stars. Xana Beach Club is located in the Bang Thao region of Phuket and is open from 10am to 10pm.
- Café Del Mar Phuket brings the fun and energy of Ibiza to the shores of Kamala Beach in Phuket. The casually elegant seaside club is packed with cabanas and loungers, and during the daytime, it’s easy to find a quiet place to read or nap. Once the sun sets, however, the vibe is much more high energy thanks to the DJs who are often accompanied by a live saxophonist. Café Del Mar Phuket is open from 11am to 2am daily.
- Located atop the hip and quirky Quip Bed & Breakfast, Quip Sky Bar is perfect for a pre-dinner drink. One of the few rooftop bars in Phuket Town, Quip Sky Bar doesn’t have a DJ or live music, but you won’t miss it since the casual beanbag seating lends itself more to quiet conversation than dancing anyway. The bar is open from 4pm to midnight.
- The KEE Resort & Spa Patong is home to a two-level terrace bar that looks out over Patong Beach. KEE Sky Lounge is the ideal place to kick off your night with one of their signature cocktails while you enjoy the 360-degree views of Patong Bay and the bustling streets below. Depending on the night, there will either be a DJ spinning or soft jazz playing through the bar’s sound system. The bar is open from 5pm to 12am.

Phuket Nightlife | Beyond Bars & Nightclubs
Visitors who aren’t interested in club hopping need not worry that they’ll be left of the Phuket nightlife scene. There is plenty to do that doesn’t involve a DJ or a dance floor.
- Night markets are incredibly popular throughout Thailand, and Phuket Weekend Night Market is certainly the most popular in Phuket Town. The market is the perfect place to pick up a few souvenirs, but it’s also worth a visit even if you have no interest in shopping. Strolling the aisles and checking out the stalls that sell everything from fresh fruit to live animals is an experience not to be missed. Even if you don’t plan on shopping, make sure to bring cash to sample the local foods for sale in the western end of the market. Food options include spicy sausages, fishcakes, even deep fried insects. The market is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 4pm to 11pm.
- Phuket has some incredible diving, and some of the area’s most unique underwater residents can only be seen at night. There are several scuba diving companies that offer night dives, many of them off of Kata Beach. Certified divers who are willing to brave the moonlit sea will be treated to a light display that can’t be found in any club, courtesy of the bioluminescent plankton. Divers will also be treated to glimpses of cuttlefish, octopi, moray eels, and more.
- Muay Thai boxing is one of Thailand’s most popular spectator sports, and many tourists make it a point to visit one of the specially built boxing stadiums to take in a match. Bangla Boxing Stadium is one of the most popular places in Phuket to catch a match. The two-story building is home to four bars in addition to the stadium on the second level. Fights take place on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday nights. VIP ringside seats cost 2,500 baht, and stadium seats go for 1,700 baht. Fights generally begin at 8pm and often continue until midnight. (Muay Thai boxing matches are prohibited during COVID-19 restrictions.)

Phuket Nightlife | Family-Friendly Entertainment
Despite its somewhat wild reputation, Phuket nightlife has a lot to offer to those traveling with children, even after dark. While there are some parts of Bangla Road that parents may prefer to steer clear of, there is still plenty of family-friendly nightlife in Phuket. (These family-friendly activities are temporarily closed during COVID-19 restrictions.)
- Siam Niramit Phuket is an exciting stage production that gives the audience an introduction to Thai history and culture over the course of three acts. The staging, choreography, and costuming are breathtaking, and even if some of the finer points are lost on younger audience members, kids are sure to be enthralled as they watch over 100 performers fill the stage. Shows begin at 8:30pm, but it is worth arriving early in order to enjoy the large park that surrounds the theater. The park features a number of traditional wooden homes, which you are welcome to explore. You’ll also be introduced to local foods and traditional handicrafts as you walk through the park. Children will particularly love getting the chance to feed the two elephants that make their home in the park. Shows are held every day except Tuesdays, and tickets start at 1,200 baht. Gates open at 5pm.
- Dino Park Mini Golf & Restaurant in Kata Beach offers plenty of fun for visitors of all ages. The 18-hole miniature golf course is designed to make patrons feel as though they’ve stepped back in time or through the gates of Jurassic Park. With giant, life-like dinosaurs at every hole and a volcano that “erupts” every 30 minutes, Dino Park Mini Golf & Restaurant is truly a sight to behold. From the sound and lighting effects to the animatronic dinosaurs that roar as golfers pass by them, the putt-putt course is truly impressive. The fun continues in the onsite restaurant, which is designed to feel like a prehistoric cave with servers decked out in Flinstones-style garb. Dino Park Mini Golf & Restaurant is open from 10am to 11pm every day.
- Phuket FantaSea is a unique nighttime cultural theme park with three main attractions – Festival Village, Golden Kinnaree Buffet Restaurant and Fantasy of a Kingdom, a Vegas-style theatrical production. The show, is held in a theater that has been designed to look like an ancient palace and is a completely immersive experience with smoke, rain, laser effects, and performers that enter the aisles to interact with the audience. The show is held Friday through Wednesday at 9pm, but the gates open at 5:30pm. Tickets start at 1,800 baht per person and include access to the park and attractions.
